Kathak Dance, Indian Vocal
Bageshree Vaze is one of the most unique Indo-Canadian artists today. As a dancer, choreographer and musician, her live performances combine the richness of India’s culture with a Canadian sensibility.

Raised in St. John’s, NL, Bageshree initially trained in Bharatha Natyam, and studied vocal music with her father, Damodar Vaze. Her studies led her to Kathak dance with Jai Kishan Maharaj in New Delhi, vocal education with the renowned Veena Sahasrabuddhe and cuminated in a Masters in Dance at York with a strong focus on Kathak language.

Living in Toronto since 1996, Bageshree has three CDs to her credit and has performed widely. In 2004 she was Rising Star with MTV India and in 2010 she awarded the K.M. Hunter Award in Dance. She continues to choreograph and perform works that fuse dance and music into one genre, in the manner of Indian aesthetics.
