Pedal-powering their way to a greener world, Toronto's MR. SOMETHING SOMETHING add their innovative and energetic musical footprints to Small World Music's Fall Festival. Set to open the event is the irreverent EVALYN PARRY aiming to share her vision for social change through witty song and spoken word.

Originally the vision of founding members Larry Graves (drums/percussion) and John MacLean (saxophone/voice), Mr. Something Something was born out of 20 years of playing, studying and traveling until these two childhood friends settled on the unbeatable dance rhythms of Nigeria, Senegal, Mali and Ghana as the most natural gathering place for the elements that would ultimately make up their signature sound. Rounding it all out is innovative jazz guitarist Paul MacDougall and Liam Smith, who dependably delivers basslines designed to induce and sustain a state of ecstatic dancing. Adding to the mix is the powerful horn section, and striking performance by onstage dancer/choreographer Jennifer Dallas. The lyrical backbone of their statement for change and consciousness is passionately delivered by electrifying frontman Johan Hultqvist.

Aside from its wildly energized, musically brilliant and unpredictable live shows, Mr. Something Something is fast becoming well-known for its green politics and environmental activism. The group did a number of "eco-dates" in 2007, playing a wind-powered show and performing in such unconventional venues as organic farms and food co-ops to highlight communities that are trying to minimize their ecological footprints. "It is our intent to educate ourselves to a better and more sustainable lifestyle", says lead singer Johan Hultqvist. "Hopefully this will inspire others to do the same." For this free concert, "generating stations" will be built to which the audience will hook up their bikes. The audience is then responsible for the music to keep going by continuous pedaling. Environmentally responsible and kid-friendly, the concert is in conjunction with a Sustainability Fair at The Brick Works.

Opening the show is the witty and outspoken singer-songwriter EVALYN PARRY. A clear audience favourite is her song "Bottle This", a striking commentary on the hazardous health and environmental consequences of bottled water. "Equally funny and dangerous." ~ CBC Radio, "Parry's personally and political writing stand outside of anyone's shadow" ~ EYE Weekly.
