in/future – an amazing final weekend to come!

Just past the midpoint of what is already proving to be one of the most amazing art and culture experiences we’ve seen in the city in some time. in/future has wowed the people who have attended, with a potent mix of music, visual art, performance, film presented with our partners Art Spin in the amazing setting of Ontario Place. Check below for our look at the event so far to get a taste.

In the meantime, we’re full of anticipation for the remainder of the festival. We’ve really pulled out all the stops in terms of programming – the Small World Stage, presented by Exodus Travels, will showcase the hottest sounds around. Starting this evening, with an eclectic mix presented in partnership with Batuki Music. It begins with the electronic sounds of Fresh Snow before moving into Ethiopian grooves courtesy of Fantahun Shekwanachew. The night closes with Talking Heads alumnus and funk pioneer Wally Badarou – the Parisian keyboardist will bring on the old school vibe. Should be sweet!

Tomorrow, it’s a Brazilian treat as we partner with Uma Nota Culture to present local hero Bruno Capinan, the sultry grooves of Luisa Maita and a rousing finale by Maracatu Mar Aberto.

There’s too much happening on the weekend to cover in detail, so check out the full line up. But a few highlights include the return to town of Saeid Shanbehzadeh with his amazing mix of Iranian trance music and beats. Souljazz Orchestra will keep the party rolling and the big showstopper will be the one-of-a-kind Dhol Foundation. Sunday also promises magic, with MAKU Soundsystem and the unbridled insanity of Gypsy Kumbia Orchestra will wrap it all up!

The weekend deserves more than one visit, and that’s just what our Thursday to Sunday PASS encourages. For a mere $40 advance! Don’t miss out on the (in)future!
