Anton Apostolov and his Green Sky Project bring together folk, classical and jazz traditions in one unique sound. Drawing on the rhythms, melodic modes and inflections of Bulgarian music, the band presents them in a contemporary context. This project is a by-product of the Balkania Orchestra, which Anton assembled in 2010 and whose album was in the top 10 in the charts for World Music at several radio stations across Canada. In 2013 Green Sky Project released their album 'Star in a Jar' which has received positive response across the board. The group has since been featured at multiple events and venues such as: Small World Music Festival; Markham Jazz Festival; Kingsville Folk Festival; Orientalys Montreal; Bulgarian Art Festival, Muhtadi International Drumming Festival; Glenn Gould Studio- CBC Toronto.
