This episode of CaféMusic Concert Series features Amely Zhou on Erhu and Sina Bathaie on Santur.

CaféMusic is a concert series created and hosted by Santur player Sina Bathaie in collaboration with Small World Music Centre and is focusing on presenting non-mainstream instruments and showcasing their full potential as solo instrument in an intimate setting.

Bio:

An expressive and dynamic figure on stage, Canadian Chinese musician Amely Zhou pursues a diverse career both as a conductor and an erhu soloist. Amely inspires others with her open-hearted and emotive playing. While challenging herself to the fullest, she premiered more than thirty new works by composers around the world. Amely Zhou received Artists in Education grant from the Ontario Arts Council for teaching Chinese musical instruments in the public school sectors in 2015. As an established Erhu soloist, she frequently collaborates with different organizations including University of Toronto, Harbourfront Centre, Chinese Culture Centre, Canadian Music Centre and Small World Music Centre. Kiwanis, the largest music festival in GTA, invited Amely to adjudicate for Non-Western Strings categories in 2018 and 2020. Amely is currently the Artistic Director of the Canadian Chinese Orchestra, and the Music Director of the Ontario Multicultural Music Association.
