Bringing together remarkable musicians from Afghanistan, India, and Tajikistan, this performance celebrates the exuberant vitality of the Mughal court. Homayun Sakhi (Afghan rubab), Rahul Sharma (santur), and Salar Nader (tabla) form a sublime trio that will transport audiences to the palaces and great rooms of Mughal India and Afghanistan.
Homayun Sakhi is the outstanding Afghan rubâb player of his generation, a brilliant virtuoso endowed with a charismatic musical presence. During Afghanistan's long years of armed conflict, when music was controlled, censored, repressed, and finally banned, the classical rubâb style to which Homayun has devoted his career not only survived but reached new creative heights.
