On the 1st Saturday of every month, we gather in the heart of Toronto's global marketplace to dig deep into the evolution of world music. Local and international DJs journey beyond borders to deliver a cross-cultural concoction in celebration of our diversity and the unifying potential of rhythm and movement to uplift us toward inspired community.

And to launch our new affair, we figured we might as well kick it up an extra notch. So we're also mighty honoured and excited to be the official Canadian release party for DAVID STARFIRE's new album KARUNA, featuring the first collaboration of its kind with Burmese musicians, and all profits going to refugee children in Thailand.

"One of the most brilliant world-fusion producers of our time." ~ BBC Radio

David is a globally-minded producer in the truest sense. He is a citizen of the world, dedicated to making a difference and bringing people together through music. His debut album BOLLYHOOD BASS is as fresh as the day it was released, and continues to set the bar within ethno-electronic circles, alongside a myriad of solo tracks, collaborations, and remixes of the world's top producers in the scene.

His current album KARUNA, due for release on March 1st, is the anticipated kickerstarter funded project that enabled David to collaborate with Burmese refugee musicians in Northern Thailand along the border zones of Burma. From glitched out violins, delayed xylophone, gamelan, home made harps, buffalo horns and Burmese vocals, this album demonstrates the versatility of Burmese instruments layered with giant bass lines and seductive synths. This is the first time an electronic artist has collaborated with Burmese musicians on an entire album. All profits go to a non profit that gives free education to Burmese refugee children called "Thai Freedom House."
