Kianoush Khalilian (Persian ney) and Rob Simms (tanbur, Turkish ney) explore the
common and contrasting ground between the neighbouring modal traditions of
Persian radif and Kurdish and Turkish maqam.
Kianoush Khalilian began his studies with very distinguished Iranian masters, including Hasan Nahid. He has performed in concerts in Iran, Canada and across Europe, and has won awards for his outstanding teaching.
Rob Simms is a multi-instrumentalist and professor of music at York University.
