Hart House U of T Presents Vandana Vishwas in Great Hall, in its Sunday Concerts Series on 10 November 2013 @ 3:00pm. It is a free concert, so come one and come all!

Born and raised in India, Vandana Vishwas is an architect by profession and a musician by passion. She is formally trained in North Indian classical vocal music but specializes in composing and singing expressive Sugam-Sangeet (easy listening music) composed of south Asian song forms such as Ghazals, Nazms, Geet, light Thumris, etc. Her debut music album, Meera-The Lover…, was released in 2009 and created wide ranging ripples in Canadian and U.S. world music circles. Her songs instantly connected not only with south Asian audiences but also with the wider world music audience. Her sophomore album, Monologues, redefines the treatment of traditional south Asian song forms with Western influences and is gaining ground in many musical circles.

Vandana is known for her mesmerizing south Asian melodies and flawless silk smooth vocals, often compared to legendary Indian singers Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

Joined by Dylan Bell of renowned Toronto Band Autorickshaw on Bass and Piano, accomplished Tabla pro Yashodhan Navathe and Vishwas Thoke on Acoustic Guitar, Vandana will present songs from her award winning debut CD and the new release, as well as some famous south Asian classics!
