It’s a week of heartfelt music and spirit, that started with  Monday’s wonderful fundraiser for Nepal‘s earthquake victims – thanks to Ed Hanley and all who participated and attended. We’re pleased to report that the event generated over $2500 in ticket sales and donations – that will be matched by the federal government for a total contribution of over $5000 . We’re proud to have helped. The 13th Annual Asian Music Series, sponsored by TD Bank, comes to a close this Sunday, with a spiritually rousing finale in Mississauga. The legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s influence continues to have an impact on a whole new generation of passionate devotees from varied cultural backgrounds. One unique example of this is Fanna-Fi-Allah, now celebrating 15 years of devotional discovery into the ancient Sufi tradition.Key members of the group have spent decades in dedicated study with masters of this classical art form in Pakistan and India and are deeply respected throughout the subcontinent. Disciples of the King of Qawwali, Fanna embodies an authentic continuation of the ancient tradition. With their ecstatic rhythms, soaring vocal melodies and the searing intensity of their live performances, the group urges us to lift our hearts in exaltation. A fitting end to a great series!
