Thomas Carbou and Patrick Graham share an almost telepathic rapport, blending spontaneous improvisation, electronic looping, Brazilian and Indian musical influences, to create both ecstatic groove pieces and dream-like soundscapes. The duo uses an array of instruments, including custom 8-string guitar, cuatro, bouzouki, cajon, frame drums, berimbau, udu and metal percussion that are augmented by hypnotic vocals, samplers and laptop. Thomas and Patrick will be on tour in Québec and Ontario in October and November 2016 to support the release of their self-produced first album, ‘Impulse’ on the Ad Litteram label.

Thomas Carbou is a guitar player, composer, arranger, and producer, who experiments with many kinds of music and with a wide variety of instruments. Thomas has recorded twelve CDs as a leader, and his many projects and musical encounters have taken him to France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Vietnam, U.S.A, and throughout Canada. He has performed on stage or in studio with Glen Velez, Dave Liebman, David Binney, Ralph Alessi, Lonnie Plaxico, François D’Amours, Rémi Bolduc, Erik Hove, François Bourassa, Jim Doxas, Chet Doxas, Jean-Christophe Beney, Thom Gossage, John Roney, Frank Lozano, Catherine Major, Aurélia O’Leary, Sophie Beaudet and Moran.

Multi-percussionist Patrick Graham has been called a “master improviser… on the border of several forms of traditional and creative music, embracing the world of rhythm as a whole” (Le Devoir). Patrick has performed, toured and recorded with numerous Canadian and international artists including Trifolia, Small World Project, Autorickshaw, La Nef, Constantinople, Trichy Sankaran, Ben Grossman, On Ensemble, Kaoru Watanabe, Ganesh Anandan, Carlo Rizzo, Glen Velez, Kohei Nishikawa, and Tetsuro Naito, as well as collaborating with dancer Hideo Arai and the company Sinha Danse.
