Tropical sounds at the Small World Centre and Koerner Hall coming up.
On Friday, singer songwriter Bruno Capinan debuts his solo show with an acoustic guitar and an iPad. Expect new songs, as well as his extravagant stage persona. His voice has been described by The Guardian as “acrobatic, sensual, both angelic and profane.” Watch Capinan’s latest official video, “O Porto Prazer,” for a taste. Tickets are $15 and only available at the door.
The following week, the Royal Conservatory of Music present calypso and soca living legend, Calypso Rose, and nu-calypso pioneers, Kobo Town, to create a lively Caribbean party. Calypso Rose has been giving rousing performances since the 1950s, while Toronto’s Kobo Town takes a fresh approach to the old school calypso of Trinidad and Tobago.
