The Circle Band plays the Small World Centre Saturday to celebrate its 5th anniversary. It’s a group that’s close to our hearts, as it features Small World’s celebrated sound technician Reza Moghaddas on bass. With four recordings under their collective belt, their music style is a unique combination of Persian poetry with jazz, acoustic rock and Middle Eastern sounds. Led by singer, songwriter and guitar player Shahab Baradaran, with Saman Shahi on keyboards and tar, Peter Lutek (wind instruments), Steve Farrugia (drums), they’re a name to watch.
Next week, we’re looking forward to the December edition of Globetrotter. With two names generating a lot of buzz on the global electronica scene – CloZee and Psymbionic, it’s shaping up to be a memorable night.
Tonight at Lula Lounge, it’s a great combination with David Buchbinder’s Odessa/Havana and Bret Higgins’ Atlas Revolt. Celebrating the 2016 release of Atlas Revolt’s debut CD and the upcoming release of Odessa/Havana’s third, this special concert brings together two of the only Canadian bands on John Zorn’s iconic Tzadik label. Hard-hitting musical fireworks guaranteed!
