About the Artists:
Afraaz Mulji
Through a captivating musical journey, Ostad Afraaz Mulji explores the Sufi concept of Fana and the Daoist philosophy of Freedom from Form. This experience, described by Afraaz as “Transmigration of the Soul” draws upon all the worlds traditions of knowledge & wisdom, and integrates them into a musical system which is all encompassing and beyond definition.

Afraaz Adam Mulji is a multi-instrumentalist and composer with a deep passion for blending musical traditions from around the world. With a polymathic approach, he explores the quantum and mathematical nature of music, drawing inspiration from figures like Bach, al-Farabi, Scriabin, and Ramanujan. He takes a scientific approach to art, recognizing the inherent physical and metaphysical nature of sound & its application in broad contexts; including sound healing & mental health. He has also performed for diplomatic and royal delegations, and continues to contribute to global conversations on cultural exchange and artistic erudition.

Hinad Alshuhuf
Bringing together masterful musicians from diverse backgrounds, Hinad Alshuhuf weaves a rich tapestry of sound, celebrating Arab, Turkish, Persian, and Indian traditions. From the evocative melodies of the oud and saz to the resonance of the cello and sarod; from sufi music to musical improvisations, this concert offers an immersive experience and creates space for cultural dialogue.

With over 20 years of experience playing the oud, Hinad seamlessly blends traditional melodies with contemporary influences, particularly focusing on modal music and the improvisational art of maqam. Beyond the stage, he has dedicated himself to preserving cultural heritage, notably through music education programs for refugee children and contributed to UNESCO's 2019 publication, “Traditional Syrian Music.” Through his artistry, Hinad bridges the worlds of traditional and modern music, honoring Syrian, Arabic, and Asian heritage while exploring and sharing a contemporary fusion with diverse communities.
