About the Artists:
Atish Mukhopadhyay (Sarode maestro)
Reflecting both tradition and improvised freedom, Atish invites the audience on a journey into the heart of North Indian classical music, featuring intricate raag improvisation that evolves throughout the concert. The performance is divided into two sections: the first unfolds the emotional landscape of raag without rhythmic constraints. The second part of the performance will have Ravi Naimpally introducing the tabla, exploring the range of cycles and tempos.

A distinguished Sarode player of the Maihar Seniya Gharana, Atish Mukhopadhyay, upholds their rich traditions. Mentored by legends like Ustad Aashish Khan and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, he has performed over 600 solo concerts across the globe. As a virtuoso performer and dedicated educator, he shapes the next generation of musicians. Recognized globally for his groundbreaking performances and cross-cultural collaborations, Atish continues to transcend boundaries, uniting diverse cultures through the universal language of music, while preserving the deep heritage of North Indian classical instrumental music.

Gandhaar Amin (Bansuri player)
With a mix of traditional melodies and groovy foot tapping tunes, Ganhdaar brings his listeners into his musical world and takes them on a passage throughout time. Fusing Indian classical with electronic - adding in the bansuri, percussion, and guitar, this performance is guaranteed to get you moving!

Gandhaar Amin grew up learning Indian classical music on the bansuri, and after spending the first 20 years of his life deeply immersed in this traditional art form, he started working in the film and music industry in Mumbai as a composer, producer, and performer. Throughout the years, he has found a unique sound blending Indian classical melodic structures with modern electronic music production. He has since released multiple albums and singles, polishing this sound with each one. After recently moving to Toronto, he’s looking to share his music with a diverse North American audience.

Doors open at 7 PM
