A living legend of calypso, McArtha Lewis, aka. Calypso Rose, was born on the small island of Tobago but has made an impact worldwide. She started singing at the age of 15, and for over 60 years, has been the reigning Queen of Calypso. In a world where men dominate, she was able to stand out through her strong personality and her stage charisma. She was ably supported in this rousing 2014 performance by Toronto’s Kobo Town.
