About the Artists:
Chinyi C
With a voice like a clear blue sky, Singapore-born, Toronto-based Chinyi C writes folk-pop music that feels like a hug wrapped around your soul. At turns honest, soothing, and hopeful, she creates compelling soundscapes with her band that transport her listeners to a world shaped by memory and meaning. Drawing on a life across borders from Southeast Asia to the Pacific Northwest, her songs deftly capture the search for home, complexities of diasporic identity, and hope of new beginnings in moments that underscore many immigrant experiences. Expect a night that tugs at your heart and leaves you feeling a little more whole. Highly recommended: bringing your favourite people.
Chinyi C is a Singaporean-Chinese, Toronto-based folk-pop artist who blends deeply thoughtful storytelling and lush fingerpicking to build connection and bring her listeners into her world of half-spoken dreams, childhood memories, and the search for home. Compelling, soothing, and honest, she tells stories inspired by elements in Pacific Northwest and Southeast Asian landscapes, often drawing on her lived experiences moving between multiple homes. Listeners describe her music as soul-stirring, healing, and reminiscent of "wildflowers in a meadow on a peaceful day". Chinyi broke into the indie folk music scene with her debut EP, "All We Are" (2022), a compilation of six songs on resilience, heartbreak, and moving on. In 2024, she released her latest single, "Human", a folk and chamber-pop exploration accompanied by a visually compelling music video that she co-directed and produced, paying homage to her communities in Toronto, Oregon, Singapore, and all the places she has called home.
Zamira Lacosta
Zamira Lacosta takes the stage with a bold, emotionally rich sound that fuses Cuban rhythms, flamenco, and pop rock soul. Backed by a dynamic 8-piece band, she moves effortlessly from tender ballads to driving, high-energy grooves. With music rooted in love, nostalgia, and cultural memory, Zamira invites audiences into a space of deep connection, celebration, and rhythm, led by her emotive voice and magnetic stage presence.
Zamira Lacosta is a Cuban-born, Toronto-based singer-songwriter whose vibrant sound blends Cuban traditions with flamenco and pop rock soul. With over a decade of classical opera training, her expressive voice and commanding stage presence bring emotional depth to every performance. Her music reflects a rich inner world shaped by the immigrant experience, weaving together themes of love, longing, social struggle, and belonging. Beyond the stage, Zamira is also a producer and cultural storyteller. She co-created Dos Gardenias – Women in Bolero, a tribute to the women who shaped the bolero genre with Ori Chacón, and Arabic Latin Fusion with Rula, a cross-cultural collaboration celebrating Latin and Middle Eastern musical traditions. Through her art, Zamira builds bridges between cultures, creating music that honors heritage and inspires connection.
