On Sunday, August 9, 2020, FabCollab will launch its first live-streamed festival in partnership with the Musicians’ Performance Trust Fund, CBC Toronto and producing partner Small World Centre. Hosted by CBC Toronto Reporter Lisa Xing, the Women in Song Festival features Toronto’s top world music artists in six 30-minute live stream sets throughout the day, all completely free-of-charge.

This event will be live streamed only once and will never be rebroadcast. Viewers must tune in live to catch these once in a lifetime performances.

FabCollab, Toronto’s newest live music initiative, is committed to amplifying minority and underrepresented groups, particularly BIPOC and female-identifying artists. Each set of this inaugural festival will feature an acclaimed Toronto female artist from a different musical background and genre, all backed by Toronto’s own multicultural band, Tamar Ilana & Ventanas.

Set times:
12-12:30 pm: Tamar Ilana feat. Lia Grainger (flamenco/world)
2-2:30 pm: Nastasia Y (Slavic soul)
4-4:30 pm: Eliana Cuevas (Latin jazz)
6-6:30 pm: Naghmeh Farahmand (Persian rhythms)
8-8:30 pm: Samidha Joglekar (Classical Indian)
10-10:30 pm: Lauren Barnett (Electro acoustic)

All of the artists will be accompanied by the world musical ensemble, Tamar Ilana & Ventanas. The award-winning six-piece Toronto-based world music ensemble recently released their third album, MISTRĀL, and features the city’s finest world musicians.
