SHAYENNE PRODUCTIONS in collaboration with BAM STAGE is proud to present the 3rd edition of the Heart of Africa concert Series: Ghanaian singer Ranzie Mensah with Reza Moghaddas Trio.
Ranzie Mensah's unique sound is a smooth blend of world music and Electro-Afro-Jazz. Her latest endeavor includes a thrilling collaboration with acclaimed Toronto composer and producer Reza Moghaddas. Ranzie has enchanted sold-out audiences in Europe, US, Canada and Africa. Based in Italy, she has toured with Miriam Makeba and has shared the stage with well-known Italian and international artists. Highlights include performing at the San Severino’s music festival with Pat Metheney, Jimmy Cliff, Alpha Blondy, Salif Keita and Gilberto Gil for 20.000 fans and thrilling an ecstatic crowd of 3000 at her solo concert at the prestigious auditorium, Santa Cecilia. Invited guests included Bob Geldorf, Gorbachev and several Nobel peace laureates. In Canada, memorable concerts include Lula Lounge, the Trane Studio and the African Festival of Arts and Culture. Hailed as a “Princess of Peace”, Ranzie Mensah was awarded the Peace Prize by the municipality of Guardia Piemontese (Calabria, Italy) for her dedication and effort in promoting peace and unity through her music. In 2011, she became spokesperson for NOPPAW’s (Nobel Peace Prize for African Women) “Africa walks with women’s feet” campaign. She continues to captivate audiences all over the world with and peace are a fact, not a work-in-progress. Ranzie has produced and released several recordings to great acclaim. Discography includes “AMAZING GRACE”, “WHO IS WRITING THE FUTURE?”, “THE MUSIC OF THE MOUNTAIN” and “JUST A DREAM” and most recently brand new tracks composed by Reza Moghaddas.
Reza Moghaddas has been involved in various movie, theatre and music productions in Iran and Canada and has worked with many masters of Persian music, cinema and theatre such as Shadjarian, Hossein Alizadeh, Kayhan Kalhor, Kamkars, Dastan Ensemble, Mohammad Nouri etc. He has worked as a freelance sound engineer, musician and producer with Small World Music, Cherry Beach Sound, Harbourforont Centre, Toronto Centre for the Arts, London Sun Festival, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Omni TV and many universities in Canada. He was the artistic director of the Tirgan Festival at Harbourfront Centre (July 2008), and co-founded Godot Art Productions, a non-profit company with a mandate to produce multi-disciplinary artistic projects.
