Indigenous Arts Festival 2016
The Indigenous Arts Festival at Fort York celebrates traditional and contemporary music, dance, theatre, storytelling, literature, crafts and food created by indigenous artists. Presented by Fort York and the Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, this festival energizes the grounds and buildings of this historic site with powerful ancient traditions and compelling contemporary creations.
Regular Festival Admission: $5
(Children 12 & under accompanied by adults are FREE)

Na-Me-Res Traditional Outdoor Pow Wow
June 18, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Free Admission
The Native Men’s Residence Traditional Pow Wow is held to recognize National Aboriginal Day on the Summer Solstice. The event features traditional dancing, drumming, kid's area, craft vendors, and a full feast after the dancing. Seven Aboriginal drum groups will be on hand, including host drum Chippewa Travelers and co-host drum Big Train. Over 100 traditional dancers are expected to participate including head dancers Tee Lyn Copenance and Mike Healy. The day begins with a sunrise ceremony at 6 a.m., the Grand Entry takes place at 12 p.m., and the community feast will begin shortly after 4:30 p.m. The Pow Wow will be followed by a gala concert as part of the Indigenous Arts Festival @ Fort York featuring the legendary Derek Miller and more.
