Details: Winner of US Indies Vox-Pop for best World song, Mississauga Arts Council’s Marty award for Performing Arts, Toronto Exclusive Magazine’s Toronto Best World CD award, Woman Hero award by Indo-Canadian Arts & Culture Initiative and nominated for Canadian Indies, OAC’s KM Hunter award and twice at Toronto Independent Music Awards, Vandana Vishwas is a vocalist par excellence and one of the leading exponents of authentic South Asian Music in North America. An Architect by profession, Vandana is an ex-All India Radio and Indian National Television artist, and in a short while that she has entered the music scene in Canada, she has established herself as a well known World Music artist in Canada.
Vandana is known for her divinely blissful melodies and mesmerizingly flawless voice, and has been lauded by the leading music columnists and critics across North America such as Errol Nazareth in The Saturday Sun and CBC, Andrea Warner in CBC Vancouver, John Goddard in the Toronto Star, Matthew Forss in Inside World Music, Andrew Frey in Maximum Ink Magazine and many more.
Vandana has released two critically acclaimed self composed and produced original music albums ‘Meera The Lover’ in 2009 and ‘Monologues’ in 2013, which was released in mumbai by legendary Bollywood singer Suresh Wadkar. Vandana has also released a single in 2014 that is a theme song for Penguin published Hindi novel ‘Samarasiddha’ by UK based author Sandeep Nayyar. Currently Vandana is working on her two new albums, due to be released next year.
This is Vandana’s third outing at Hart House, having performed before at the Great Hall and the Arbor Room.
Vandana will be accompanied by Kobi Hass on Bass, Rakesh Tewari on drums and Vishwas Thoke on Guitar.
