Presented in partnership with Culturas 360°

Small World Music comes together with 13 festivals worldwide to present the second edition of CULTURAS 360° taking place from November 27th - 28th!

CULTURAS 360° is an annual international collaborative online project for artistic showcases from around the world. Across two days every year, artists from countries far and wide will celebrate the rich diversity of cultures and music, the magic that unites everyone, wherever they are.

Beyond a virtual celebration of music, CULTURAS 360° promotes a global initiative to reach diverse artistic content to audiences on the five continents, develop new audiences for the arts, and new opportunities for artists. A collective of curators and culture professionals committed to change and social transformation, have joined hands to present this independent platform of music festivals that nurture cultural diversity and solidarity between peoples.

We are so excited to present Maria and The Band from Toronto, Canada.

Formed in 2011 through a collaboration between Brazilian and Canadian musicians, Maria and The Band plays forró pé de serra. Led by the dynamic and charming Jerusa Leão, and incorporating rabeca, zabumba, accordion, triangle, and a chorus of vocals, they play original compositions and interpret the greats of classical forro, a folk music from northeastern Brazil.

The band is fronted by talented multi-instrumentalist and composer Jerusa Leão, who plays percussion (zabumba), and arranges and composes original material for the band. She is joined by Kelly Lefaive on rabeca (fiddle), Junior Dias on accordion, Andrew Pacheco on bass, and Kristyn Gelfand on triangle and shaker.

Presented as a part of 25 for 25 - Small World Music's 25th Anniversary Program
