Celebrate the release of the debut full-length album by Colombian-Canadian singer-songwriter Natasha Roldán, Ya No Estoy Aquí (I’m no longer here). The self-produced album, acclaimed by several critics as “absolutely beautiful”, “a migrant’s album with a very feminine touch”, and featuring “strength (emerging) from…pain”, contains stories about migration, revolution, love, and the Colombian conflict. Her songs weave emotionally poignant narratives that invite reflection on the search for freedom, self-love, and resistance.
Live, Roldán, has delighted audiences with her combination of Latin American folk, jazz, and Colombian rhythms with an alternative touch, inspiring critics with her vocal talent: “What a voice!... I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of her in the coming years”, “Her voice is absolutely beautiful.”
An alumni of the Small World Music Incubator and RBC's Music Launchpad, Roldán has showcased at Folk Music Ontario, won the Ella Fitzgerald Award for Jazz Performance, and the Sorbara Award in Music, and is a two-time nominee for best jazz vocals at the Toronto Independent Music Awards.
The 2024 Small World Music Series is sponsored by TD Bank Group through the TD Ready Commitment and funded by the Government of Canada, Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council.
