Join us for a musical celebration of Nowruz, the Persian holiday welcoming the spring season. The Toronto-based Ooldouzlar boasts a multicultural lineup that reflects their diverse musical influences. At its core, is vocalist Ooldouz Pouri, a mesmerising Azeri Iranian singer whose voice weaves tales of emotion and heritage. Alongside her, percussionist Naghmeh Farahmand keeps the rhythm alive, infusing the music with energy and vitality. Majd Sukar brings the soulful tones of the clarinet, adding depth and richness to the ensemble, while Demetrios Petsalakis enchants with the haunting melodies of the Oud, transporting listeners to distant lands with each strum.

Together, this eclectic quartet creates an irresistible sound that transcends boundaries, inviting audiences on a musical journey that spans continents and cultures. They breathe new life into the folklore of Iran, Azerbaijan, Arabic, and Greek traditions, through rearranging traditional songs and infusing them with fresh perspectives and contemporary flair.

Tickets include light refreshments and snacks.
Doors open at 7:30 PM.

The 2024 Small World Music Series is sponsored by TD Bank Group through the TD Ready Commitment and funded by the Government of Canada, Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and the City of Toronto through the Toronto Arts Council.
