Hailed as the "voice of protest" by Time magazine, "one of the most beloved musicians on the continent" by Rolling Stone, and described by the Guardian as "arguably the most important figure in world music," Senegal's biggest star, Youssou N’Dour defines the essence of West African groove with his compelling songs, soaring vocals, and spectacular performances with his Senegalese superband, Le Super Étoile. The New York Times described his voice as an “arresting tenor, a supple weapon deployed with prophetic authority.” N’Dour absorbs the entire Senegalese musical spectrum in his work. Named “African Artist of the Century” by the England’s Folk Roots, N’Dour has made his mbalax musical style famous throughout the world. Peter Gabriel has proclaimed N’Dour simply as “one of the best alive.”

Presented in association with Royal Conservatory of Music and Batuki Music.
