The 15th Annual Asian Music Series, sponsored by TD Bank and in partnership with Exclaim, is in the home stretch, with just a few stellar concerts remaining. On Saturday, our partners at Raag-Mala Toronto present a compelling combination at the MacLeod Auditorium on the U of T campus. Sitarist Hidayat Husain Khan harbours a creative brilliance that takes him across all genres and nuances of music, while Manjusha Kulkarni-Patil could well be the busiest Hindustani vocalist today with upwards of 50 concerts a year.
Following that, on Mother’s Day, another amazing pairing as kamancheh legend Kayhan Kalhor returns, in the company of vocalist Alireza Ghorbani at the Toronto Centre for the Arts. While the Sunday concert is sold out, as mentioned last week, they will be making a special appearance on Tuesday the 16th at the Small World Centre. We’re thrilled to host these heavyweights at our space and the lucky few who will get to share this exclusive event will no doubt have a memorable time. A few tickets remain!
Watch Kayhan perform kamancheh and vocals live at Morgenland Festival Osnabrück in 2012.
