It’s almost here and the weather seems to share our vibe with a sweet forecast for sun and sound!
Tomorrow evening at Revival, the festival launch party and the first Polyphonic Ground monthly coincide to present three great groups in association with our pals at Ashkenaz. Grooz come in from Montreal to make their Toronto debut with a dose of North African grooves, funk and reggae. The Sandcatchers are shaped by their New York roots, mixing jazz with Middle Eastern traditions, and the evening opens with the voices of the always wonderful Turkwaz.
We want to share the night with our community (i.e. you!), so we’ve set aside a couple pairs of FREE tickets to the event. First two people to reply and correctly name one act performing on Sunday’s bill for Small World in the Park are in!
Friday brings a Canadian debut that promises percussive fireworks. Hong Sunghyun is an awesome young drummer and composer and with his Chobeolbi band he explores Korean shamanic traditions. Percussion takes centre stage with stunning displays of intense virtuosity. Seating is limited you can book your tickets here.
Later the same night at the Rivoli, Futuro Libre presents the Toronto album release party for Pierre Kwenders with Datu, Obuxum and DJ Sean Sax.
Saturday‘s night of Sufi music, dance and poetry in the beautiful setting of St. Andrew’s Church will be special too. Soley Vaseghi and his group have won fans and acclaim wherever they’ve played. There are still tickets available!
A full-day of  free outdoor programming Sunday at the lakeside finishes out the weekend. Lots of great artists to discover. More info to come!
