While we endure a brutal end to winter, we know spring is around the corner, and with it, Small World’s annual Asian Music Series. We’re delighted to present the full line-up of artists set to perform 11 shows between April 1st and May 20th. This is our 15th edition, and we are proud to embrace the scope of sounds from across the Asian cultural landscape.
We’ve already mentioned the opener, the Haniya Aslam Trio, and can now give you the scoop on more; a performance by the always impressive Nagata Shachu Taiko group on April 7th; a mellower vibe with the richly textured acoustic music of So Long Seven the following night, and The Upanishads, the live sound project of our good friend Deb Sinha on April 16th.
The series also includes some of the greats of Indian Classical music, highlighted by the return of Grammy Award-winning Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, April 22nd and one of the most sought after Hindustani vocalists today, Manjusha Kulkarni-Patil, performing with the brilliant sitarist Hidayat Husain Khan on May 13th. All these shows will be accessible via our Small World Explorer Program for big savings on curated ticket packages.
In the meantime, our pals at Batuki Music present a rare taste of Moroccan music this weekend at the Alliance Française that’s worth a look.
