Sina Salimi

Woeld Music, Minimalism, Alternative
Sina Salimi is a Toronto-based singer-songwriter whose work is influenced by both his Iranian roots (mainly evident in his use of Farsi poetry and also his own lyrics), and Western musicians such as Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits or Philip Glass. He always accompanies his songs with his santour (Iranian hammered dulcimer) which brings a unique character to his collaborations with bass and drums. Other guest musicians on instruments such as violin, guitar or accordion are also frequently featured in his live shows and recordings.
To show his deep appreciation for Leonard Cohen, he has been recently working on some personalized renditions of a few iconic songs by the great Canadian artist, these songs will be sung in both their original English version along with Sina’s own interpretation of Cohen’s lyrics in Farsi. He is planning to play one or two of these renditions in his upcoming shows before releasing them as a tribute album next year.

He has played numerous shows across Toronto, on the stages of Lula Lounge, Small World Music, Drake Hotel, Gladstone and Revival.
He released his debut album “Perhaps There” in November 2013. A single from his upcoming album will be released in late October of 2017.
