For those locals who have been to the recently opened Trillium Park on the east side of Ontario Place, you’re already familiar with this beautiful lakeside space that NOW Magazine’s Richard Longley calls a “marvel.” For those who haven’t, you can learn more about it here. We’re thrilled to be the first ones to animate it with live music! As the final piece of the Small World Festival puzzle, on Sunday September 17th, we have a day of free global sounds that will make for the perfect musical picnic.
Small World in the Park, presented in association with Ontario Place brings an eclectic collection of local and international performers to the stage, and roaming musical acts to animate the grounds. From flamenco to funk, Brazilian drumming to Filipino hiphop, an array of sounds will resonate on the lakeside from 2:00p.m. until 10:00p.m. when we wind down by the fire. The lineup features Ventanas, Han Han, Turbo Street Funk, Kafena (Malta), Maracatu Mar Aberto, Tich Maredza, Yusuke Hoshi, Nya Soleil (Cameroon), Rambunctious and more, so mark your calendar and stay for the day!
We’re also delighted to welcome the Toronto Real Estate Board as a Festival sponsor, helping enable us to provide this free program! Of course, there’s lots more going on during the festival and more info to come.
Here’s a gorgeous new video of Tamar Ilana & Ventanas performing “Trésor.”
