With only two days to go before the grand opening of the massive art and music festival that is in/future, there’s a buzz of activity at Ontario Place, and tremendous anticipation for what’s coming up.
Thursday’s launch party features three of the most dynamic acts in Canadian global music, from Quebec and Ontario. Kicking it off, Pierre Kwenders’ new project Abakos will take us into a futuristic Afro-electronica landscape of beats and voice. Alysha Brilla’s stage presence, combined with her superb vocals and killer band will stir up the mix, while Vox Sambou’s Haitian hip-hop and funk will close out the night in style.
Friday evening’s program ranges from Japanese drumming through mariachi to Afrobeat – an international feast of beats and styles to move you! Live electronic music is featured in Cinesphere, with MUTEK’s program alongside immersive video on the big screen.
Of course, there’s so much more at in/future – from the stunningly innovative installations throughout the park, to film in the Cinesphere and activities around the ground – that the music, great as it is, is just part of the treat.
Listen to CIUT 89.5 FM at 12:00PM until 2:00PMÂ TODAY for a preview of the music at in/future!
